Blackwings





Today I will be typing an article about Black Wings:

Some of you might not know what are Blackwings(Black Feather in Japanese) I will tell you.
They are effect monsters that consist of 2 tuners and the other are non-tuner monsters. And they are all Dark Attributed.

They are known for their ability to swarm the field in no time allowing you to take out your strongest monster and head for the win.

Let's start:

1)Monsters

-Blackwing-Bora the Spear A.K.A. BlackFeather - of Black Lance(in original Japanese):

If you control a "Blackwing" monster other than "Blackwing - Bora the Spear", you can Special Summon this card from your hand. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent.( in other words it inflicts Piercing Damage. http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Piercing

ATK:1700 DEF:800

This monster is one of the most important monsters. It can be special summoned easily from your hand if you control a blackwing and also inflicts Piercing Damage.


-Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind A.K.A. BlackFeather- Gale of the Hurricane

ATK=1300 DEF=400

If you control a "Blackwing" monster other than "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind", you can Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn, you can halve the ATK and DEF of 1 face-up monster your opponent controls.

The best card in the Black Wings. First it can be easily summoned from hand ( even more easy, i'll show you when we get to support cards) AND can be also used to half your opponent's monster's attack allowing you to attack. It can be also used in a Synchro summon since it is a tuner....we will talk about Blackwing synchros in a while.


-Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame A.K.A. as Blackfeather-Shura of the Azure Flame

When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 "Blackwing" monster with an ATK of 1500 or less from your Deck to your field. The effect(s) of the monster Special Summon by this effect are negated.

ATK=1800 DEF=1200

Best used with Gale. It allows you to SS a black wing easily. Even though it negates the monster's effect, it can't stop it from being a tuner so you can used to summon a Synchro.( we wil talk about the synchros later)


-Blackwing - Blizzard of the North Pole AKA Black Feather - Blizzard of the North Pole

This card cannot be Special Summoned. When this card is successfully Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Blackwing" monster from your Graveyard in face-up Defense Position.

ATK=1300 DEF=0

Pretty good effect allows you to SS a monster from your graveyard when it is summoned, then you use that monster for a syncrho summon material since North Pole is a tuner.

-Blackwing - Elfen of the Pitch-Black

ATK=2200 DEF=1200

If you control a face-up "Blackwing" monster, you can Normal Summon this card without Tributes. When this card is Normal Summoned successfully, you can change the Battle Position of 1 monster your opponent controls.

Not such a bad effect, it has a good ATK and allows you to change the battle position of a monster you opponent controls, lets say that Monster has 2400 ATK 1200 DEF you change it to DEF and attack with Elfen.

-Blackwing - Qal'at of the Moonlight AKA Black Feather - Qal'at of the Moonshadow

ATK=1400 DEF=1000

By sending this card from your hand to the Graveyard during the Damage Step when 1 face-up "Blackwing" monster you control battles, that monster gains 1400 ATK until the End Phase of that turn.

Great effect that can surprise your opponent even if you have no spell or trap cards. This card should be ran in 2's.


-Blackwing - Sirocco the Dawn AKA Black Feather - Sirocco of Dawn

ATK=2000 DEF=900

If your opponent controls a monster and you control no monsters, you can Normal Summon or Set this card without Tributing. Once per turn, you can select 1 face-up "Blackwing" monster you control. It gains ATK equal to the total ATK of all face-up "Blackwing" monsters on the field except itself. Monsters other than the selected monster cannot attack the turn you activate this effect.

Great effect since Blackwings swarm, and the monster selected as target of his effect gains a great ATK boost, and this card can be easily summoned and has good ATK.


2)Synchro Monsters:


Attention: ALL BLACKWING SYNCHROS REQUIRE BLACKWING TUNERS.


-Blackwing Armed Wing AKA Black Feather - Arms Wing


1 "Blackwing" Tuner + 1 or more Non-Tuner monster.
When this card attacks a Defense Position monster, it gains 500 ATK during the Damage Step only. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the diference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points.

ATK=2300 DEF=1000

Needs a Blackwing tuner, easy to summon since you can easily get a blackwing monster and a Gale of the Whirldwind on the field in 1 turn.
Good for inflicting damage to your opponent when he has a hand with bad cards, and the only thing he can do is Set monster in Defence Position.

-Blackwing Armor Master AKA Black Feather - Armored Wing

1 "Blackwing" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
This card cannot be destroyed by battle, and you take no Battle Damage from battles involving this card. If this card attacks a monster, you can place 1 Wedge Counter on that monster at the end of the Damage Step (max. 1). You can remove all Wedge Counters from your opponent's monsters to reduce the ATK and DEF of each monster that had a Wedge Counter to 0, until the End Phase.

ATK= 2500 DEF= 1500

Great effect. Easy to summon. This can can be used to destroy any strong monster using its effect. It cannot be destroyed by battle, turns all battle damage to ZERO, and equips a Wedge Counter on the attacking monster, so nearly, you cannot attack it.

3)Support Cards:

a) Monsters:

-Dark Armed Dragon, you all know it. Easy to summon since all Blackwings are DARK attributed.

-Mystic Tomato, very well also, used to get Blackwings to hand.

Prometheus, King of the Shadows AKA Dark King Prometheus

When you Normal Summon this card, remove from play any number of DARK monsters in your Graveyard. This card gains 400 ATK for each removed card, until the end of this turn.

ATK=1200 DEF=800

Again, blackwings are all DARK. You can easily use this card to make it gain ATK, thus destroying a powerful monster you opponent has.



b)Spells:

-Black Whirlwind

When a "Blackwing" monster is Normal Summoned to your field, you can add 1 "Blackwing" monster with an ATK lower than the ATK of the Summoned monster from your Deck to your hand.

The key to swarming in a Blackwing deck. You summon a high attack Blackwing, you Gale to hand SS gale, Synchro summon them to get Armor Master or Arms Wing.

-Allure of Darkness

Draw 2 cards, then remove from play 1 DARK monster from your hand. If you don't have any DARK monsters in your hand to remove, send all cards in your hand to the Graveyard.

The Draw engine in a Blackwing deck. You can easily get rid of a card you do not need and draw 2.

-Mountain

Increase the ATK and DEF of all Dragon, Winged Beast, and Thunder-Type monsters by 200 points.

Increases the attack of blackwings since they are Winged-Beasts.

c)Traps:

-Icarus Attack

Tribute 1 Winged Beast-Type monster. Destroy 2 cards on the field.

One for two. Really good card.

-Fake Feather

Discard 1 "Blackwing" monster. Select 1 Normal Trap Card in your opponent's Graveyard. The effect of this card becomes the effect of the selected Trap Card.

I LOVE this card. It can really surprise your opponent. Let's say you already used Mirror Force and so has your opponent he has 5 monsters, he puts them all in attack position knowing that you do not have another MIrror Force so nothing will happen to them. You activate Fake Feather, choose Mirror Force, and destroy your opponent's monsters.


-Delta Crow - Anti Reverse

Activate only if you control a "Blackwing" monster. This card can be activated from your hand if you control 3 "Blackwing" monsters. Destroy all face-down Spell and Trap Cards your opponent controls.

Trap form of Heavy Storm, but with a few conditions.
